Grant-Supported Training for Your Employees

This grant-funded training, offered through a special state grant program is IS CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR REGISTRATION. PLEASE CHECK AGAIN IN MID-AUGUST AND READ ON FOR PROGRAM INFO AND COURSE DESCRIPTIONS. Don't miss out on this opportunity to develop skills for the workplace!  Classes are only scheduled when funding is available.  Please check back frequently, as new class dates are added periodically.

These free training classes in Business/Communication Skills and Computer Skills (see schedule and descriptions below) represent a partnership between the New Jersey Community College Consortium for Workforce and Economic Development and the NJ Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Classes are offered through the Center for Business & Technology at County College of Morris (CCM) and will be held on the Randolph campus at no charge to your company.  All registration for the Grant-Supported Training Program must be done using the links on this page through the Center for Business at Technology at CCM.   

NOTE: For Employers and Employees
These classes are provided at no charge to your company. However, employees must meet these eligibility requirements:
  • Public employees and unemployed persons are NOT eligible for this program (a special program for unemployed can be found at http://rtwnj.org)
  • Employees must work either part-time or full-time for a New Jersey business
  • Employees must be paid by employer at their usual hourly rate while in training (companies with less than 250 employees are exempt)
  • Employer’s valid FEIN is required (Tax ID Number-See your Human Resources Dept.)
  • For PC courses, employees must have Windows knowledge and keyboard/mouse skills

We can deliver any class in this program for your company at your site for groups of 15 or more participants for a nominal fee of $500.  Do you have needs for topics not listed? This workshop is designed for the individuals who write e-mails for communications with internal and external audiences. You will prepare improved, complete, understandable, concise, and professionally acceptable e-mails in an organized fashion. Current business writing techniques will be applied along with a focus on a process for writing, guidelines for effective writing, and techniques for editing. You will edit samples of writing for readability, clarity, completeness, and tone.

EMBRACING ORGANIZATIONAL AND CULTURAL TRANSFORMATION

Many things cause organizational change. These include challenges of growth, especially global markets; changes in strategy; technological changes, competitive pressures; and customer pressure, particularly shifting markets.  This course focuses on ways to address organizational transformation and to shift the culture to be positioned to achieve greater success.  Participants will gain the understanding of a strategic planning process and the ability to identify key strategies for transforming an organization. This course focuses on finding grant funding for nonprofit organizations and tax-exempt institutions. This course is designed for participants who want to gain advanced skills necessary to manage lengthy documents, collaborate with others, and secure documents. You will learn how to create, manage, revise, and distribute documents. In this course, you will use Outlook to review email communication management, including composing and managing emails; scheduling appointments, meetings, tasks and creating notes; handling contact information; and customizing the Outlook environment. You will then explore the more advanced features provided with the Outlook interface, such as advanced message, calendar, and contacts management. Learn to use the Tasks and Journal workspaces in the application to manage task assignments for yourself and others, and to record interactions you have with your colleagues. ACCESS INTERMEDIATE

In this course, you will expand your knowledge of relational database design, write advanced queries, structure existing data, share data across applications, and customize reports. You will learn how to design a relational database, join tables to retrieve data from unrelated tables, and organize a database for efficiency and performance, and to maintain data integrity. Additionally you will be shown how to customize reports to organize the displayed information and produce specific print layouts. PREREQ: Access Fundamentals or equivalent knowledge.
