Professor Baxter has over 25 years of experience in health care. She began her career as a Registered Nurse working in the acute care setting. In 1998, she obtained her MSN and began employment as an Advanced Practice Nurse/Nurse Practitioner. Professor Baxter recently obtained her doctorate in medical humanities from Drew University. Her dissertation examined patient satisfaction with communication from hospitalists in an acute care facility. She has worked in various specialties during her career including wound care, infectious disease, and hospitalist medicine. In addition to her full-time faculty position at CCM where she currently functions as the Team Leader for the Basic Medical-Surgical Nursing course, Professor Baxter currently functions as a Nursing Coordinator in the Oncology Research Department at a local acute care facility.

Professor Baxter is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and American Association of Nurse Practitioners as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. She is also recognized as a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator by the Association of Clinical Research Professionals. Professor Baxter is a member of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society for Nursing and is a Certified Nurse Educator by the National League for Nursing. She has written a published article entitled “Evolution of Nursing Research Committees” and was a contributing author on an article entitled, “Clues to Care: RNs Use Research to Improve Patient Care” at Morristown Memorial Hospital, New Jersey”.
