1) How can
I join a club?
It's easier than you
think:
- Check the bulletin boards around
campus for information about club meeting times.
- Go to the club's
meeting.
- Ask about
the club at the Campus Life Information Window in the Student Center
(Building # 1 on the
campus map).
- Complete the
Student Club and
Organization Interest Form (print it out, complete it, send it to us and we'll
pass it along to the appropriate club!)
- Leave your
name and telephone number in the organizations mailbox in the
Office
of Campus Life.
- Sign up with the group at the
"Student Club and Organization Fair" held every semester.
- Visit the clubs office and let them know youre
interested in joining.
- Follow up with the groups you have chosen
(here's a
listing of our clubs).
- Be persistent - don’t give up! New members are always welcome.
2) When do the clubs meet?
Many of our clubs meet during the time periods
referred to at CCM as "College Hour." These periods are Mondays from
11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and Thursdays from 2:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
If you are planning to get involved in the various
aspects of campus life at CCM (student clubs; intramurals; special
programs, lectures and presentations, etc.), plan your academic schedule
around these "College Hour" activity periods. Don't schedule a
class during these time periods - Most classes scheduled during
"College Hour" can be taken at other times.
3) Can I start a new club?
Of course you can! CCM also provides you with the opportunity
to start new student clubs. Before a new organization can be officially recognized, the
club must have a faculty or staff advisor, a constitution, a membership list of at least ten
students, and a club leadership roster (president, secretary, treasurer, etc.). Assistance
in preparing this paperwork can be obtained from the
Office of Campus Life staff members.
You
can also get more information on what is involved by reading the
CCM Student
Organization Guidebook and Policy Manual.
4) Why should I get involved?
Here are the "Top Five Reasons" :
- to learn and
develop leadership skills such as decision making, problem solving, delegating and
organizing;
- to become an important part of the CCM community,
having your voice heard in campus decision making;
- to develop working relationships with faculty,
administrators and friendships with fellow students;
- to get skills and experiences that will round out your
resume (for the CCM graduate, a record of involvement in campus life
is of proven interest to employers and the colleges to which you might
transfer);
- and, of course, to have fun!
5) How can I get more information about
getting involved?
Its easy - just contact the CCM
Office of Campus Life
or see one of the
Campus Life staff members. We're here to help!
