Curriculum Requirements

If you are planning to transfer to a four-year college, you should familiarize yourself with curriculum requirements at that institution. Confirm with your transferring institution which courses they are expecting you to complete at County College of Morris.



History Requirements

Students should consult their academic advisors and their program curriculum check sheets for specific course suggestions to meet their history requirement.

Literature or Foreign Language Requirement

Students should consult their academic advisors and their program curriculum check sheets for specific course suggestions to meet the six-credit requirement. Students enrolling in a foreign language who have two or more years of a foreign language in high school should check the language requirements at the four-year college or university to which they plan to transfer to determine if they should enroll in the first or second level of that language at CCM.

Laboratory Science and Mathematics Requirement

Students should consult their academic advisors and their program curriculum check sheets for specific course suggestions to meet their requirement. Since mathematics and laboratory science requirements vary, prospective transfer students are advised to consult the general education requirements of the four-year college to which they plan to transfer.
The following sequences may not be used to satisfy this requirement: MAT 108 and MAT 124; MAT 118 and MAT 131.

Humanities Electives

The requirement may be fulfilled by a combination of one-, two-, or three-credit courses in the following areas: Art, Communications, Dance, Design, English, Graphic Design, International Studies, Language, Media, Music, Philosophy and Photography. Students should consult their academic advisors when selecting these courses.

Social Science Electives

This requirement may be fulfilled by a combination of courses totaling the required credits selected from the following areas: Criminal Justice, Economics, History, International Studies, Political Science, Psychology, Human Services and Sociology/Anthropology. Students should consult their academic advisors when selecting these courses.

General Education Electives

Students should consult their academic advisors when selecting courses from the following areas: Communications, Humanities, Mathematics and Science, Social Science, and Health and Wellness. Since requirements vary widely, prospective transfer students are advised to consult the General Education requirements of the four-year colleges to which they plan to transfer.

Free Electives

This requirement may be fulfilled by a combination of any credit courses offered by the college totaling the required credits. Students should consult their academic advisors and their curriculum check sheets for specific course suggestions.

Health and Wellness

County College of Morris includes Health and Wellness as a general education requirement. Many programs at CCM require HED 128 Lifetime Wellness (2 credits). HED 286 Personal Health and Wellness (3 credits) may be used in place of Lifetime Wellness in any curriculum. Some programs required HED 286 Personal Health and Wellness. (There is no substitution for HED 286 in Teacher Education programs.) Students in curricula that do not require HED 128 Lifetime Wellness or HED 286 Personal Health and Wellness may complete their Health and Wellness requirement by taking any Health Education (HED) course or courses that add up to at least two credits and/or any combination of one-credit HES courses. (Three credit HES courses do not apply). One-credit or two-credit first-level DAN courses may also be used to satisfy this requirement. There are not waivers of the Health and Wellness requirement. For further information, students should consult the chairperson, Department of Health, Exercise Science and Dance.
