Graduation FAQs
Where do I pick up my cap and gown?
You may pick them up at
the Campus Store on:
- May 28 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- May 29 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- May 30 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

What time should I be there?
If you are a student participating in
the ceremony, you need to report to your room no later than 6 p.m.
If you are a guest, please arrive no later than 6:45 p.m. The front doors to
the gymnasium will be locked at 6:45 p.m. Any one arriving after that time
will be asked to enter through the side doors and wait until an appropriate
break in the ceremony to enter the gymnasium. If the gymnasium is full, you
will be able to view the ceremony on closed circuit television in the Dragonetti Auditorium.

How do I know if I am eligible to graduate?
May graduates will receive a letter from the
Office of Records and Registration between May ??
and May ?? to
confirm your official status. January 2008 and
August 2007 graduates should have already received their letters. August
2008 candidates will receive their letters in early September.

I am graduating with honors/merit, where do I get my collar or braid?
Honors and merit regalia (collar or braid) will be distributed in room C-232
from 6 – 6:45 p.m. on graduation night. The collar or braid must be returned
to the Office of Records and Registration (in the SCC lobby) following the
ceremony and before receiving your diploma.
Honor Society stoles (PTK & ABG) were handed out at induction ceremonies.
If you did not attend, please contact the Office of Campus Life at
973-328-5225, to pick up
your stole. If you have lost yours, contact the Office of Campus Life
at 973-328-5225, to purchase another.

NJ STARS graduate, where do I get my braid?
NJ STARS regalia (braid) will be distributed in room C-232
from 6 – 6:45 p.m. on graduation night. The braid is yours to keep.

Do I have to pay for cap and gown?
There is no fee for your cap and gown, which are yours to keep.

How many guests can I invite?
Each graduate may request up to four tickets for
commencement. The tickets will be issued at cap & gown pickup at the
Campus Store and will be available until 12 p.m. on commencement day,
Thursday, May 28. If you do not need all four tickets, please return
the unwanted quantity to the Campus Store personnel handing out caps and
gowns.
Additional tickets will be available on a
first-come, first-served basis only on Thursday, May 28 at the Gymnasium (HPE
building) from 4 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. or until no tickets remain.
Guests without tickets or arriving after 7 p.m.
will be able to view the ceremony via closed circuit TV in the Dragonetti
Auditorium, Student Community Center on the first floor.
Please note that the invitation you
received in the mail in NOT a ticket.

I received an invitation to Commencement. Does this mean I am definitely
graduating?
A letter is being sent to all potential May 2008
graduates, January 2008 and August 2007 graduates, and August 2008
candidates who have been approved to participate in the ceremony. The invitation is neither a ticket for admission nor a confirmation of your
graduation status. The Office of Records and Registration will officially
notify all May graduates by mail (you should receive your letter between May
23 and May 28) as to whether or not you have been certified for graduation.
January 2008 and August 2007 graduates should already have received their
letters. August 2008 candidates will receive their letters in early
September.

I am sure I passed all my courses and met all the requirements but did not
receive a letter. What should I do?

I am not going to participate in Commencement, where can I pick up my
diploma?
Candidates not attending the graduation ceremony may pick up their diplomas
on or after Monday, June 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in
Records and
Registration, SCC 220.

What time should guests arrive?
- Ceremony Start Time: 7 p.m. sharp
- Doors Open: 6 p.m.
- *Doors Close: 6:45 p.m.
- All guests attending the May 28 Commencement ceremony must have a
ticket to enter the gymnasium.
*All guests arriving after 6:45 p.m. will be re-directed to the side doors
of the HPE building,
where they will be escorted into the gymnasium during a suitable break in
the ceremony. If the gymnasium is full, guests will be redirected to
the Dragonetti Auditorium, where a live broadcast of the ceremony will be
available for viewing.
