Landscape and Horticultural Technology Faculty

 

Professor Jan-Marie Traynor,  COORDINATOR


Professor Traynor has been a member of the Landscape and Horticultural Technology Program Staff since 1981 (when the program was known as the Agricultural Technology Program) and became coordinator in 1998. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Natural Resource Management from Cook College of Rutgers, the State University, and a Master’s Degree in Vocational Education from the Graduate School of Education of Rutgers, the State University.

In addition to her teaching, Mrs. Traynor has also worked as a freelance landscape designer, nursery manager, and landscape consultant. Actively involved with professional organizations, she has served as Education Committee Chair for the Association of Professional Landscape Designers; Consultant for the New Jersey Flower and Patio Show; and is a member of the Education Committee of the New Jersey Nursery and Landscape Association, the planning committee of the North Chapter; NJNLA, the planning committee of the New Jersey Landscape Contractors Association; and Head Judges Technical Assistant for the Certified Landscape Technician Program in NJ.

Mrs. Traynor has teaching responsibility for Landscape Plant Identification, Landscape Design and Planning, Horticultural Computer Software Applications, Landscape Estimating and Specifications, and has also taught Plant Pest Management, and Horticultural Soils. Mrs. Traynor has also served as a tutor in the CASE Center, working with learning disabled students. Professor Traynor also assists in staffing the Teaching Learning Technology Center, located in the Library, which serves as a resource center for faculty and staff who want to perfect their skills at using technology.

 

Professor Craig Tolley


Mr. Tolley received his Bachelor of Science in Plant Science and his Master’s Degree in Turfgrass Management, both at Cook College of Rutgers, the State University. He has extensive retail experience and has been active with turfgrass associations.

Mr. Tolley’s teaching responsibilities include Plant Science, Plant Pest Management, Grounds Maintenance, Horticultural Construction, Horticultural Soils as well as working with the students enrolled in the Cooperative Work Experience Course.

He serves as an academic advisor, working closely to help students plan their college schedules and also provides extensive tutoring to Landscape and Horticultural Technology students. Mr. Tolley is also a memeber of the college's Advisement cadre, assisting students during in-person registration.
 

Adjunct Professor Tricia Rokosz


Ms. Rokosz holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Cook College and a Master’s degree from Washington State University. She began her career at CCM as the Greenhouse Technician, but quickly began to assist with teaching several courses including Plant Pest Management, Landscape Plant Identification, and Plant Science. Her current teaching responsibilities include the Orientation to Careers Course. Tricia is also a full-time staff member of the Biology and Chemistry Department and heads the State Systemic Initiative, working closely to help improve elementary science education throughout northern New Jersey.
 

 Adjunct Professor Marc Zukovich

Mr. Zukovich is President of Sterling Horticultural Services and has teaching responsibility for Plant Pest Management, Horticultural Soils, and Grounds Maintenance. He also offers numerous non-credit courses throughout the year on topics including Residential Landscape Design, Lawn Maintenance, and Selecting Annuals for the Garden.

Mr. Zukovich also has served as a member of the Landscape and Horticultural Technology Program Advisory Committee and holds a Master’s Degree in Botany.

Adjunct Professor Robert Metzler


Mr. Metzler is manager of Blue Atlas Nursery and a graduate of Delaware Valley College with extensive plant material knowledge. His primary teaching responsibility is the Landscape Plant Identification Course. Mr. Metzler also frequently opens Blue Atlas Nursery for field trips and has provided many educational tours of this facility for Landscape and Horticultural Technology students
