Nursing Department

The Nursing Program at County College of Morris began in 1968.   This well-established program offers a balance of general education and nursing courses to prepare men and women for entry level Registered Nurse positions. The curriculum provides selected laboratory experiences during which students provide nursing care to patients in hospitals and other health care facilities.

The nursing courses cover medical/surgical, obstetrics/pediatrics, and psychiatric nursing. The Nursing Department offers both a day and evening program.  Although the nursing curriculum is designed to be completed in four to six semesters, students may take longer to complete their degree requirements depending on individual circumstances.

Graduates of the program are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN examination and upon successful completion are licensed as Registered Nurses (R.N.) by the New Jersey Board of Nursing. The Nursing Program at the County College of Morris is accredited by the State of New Jersey and the National League for Nursing. The County College of Morris is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Our program has consistently maintained NCLEX-RN passing rates of above 90% which is above the state average.  Note: Admission to the program is determined by the Chairperson of the Department of Nursing.

Credits are readily transferable towards a 4 year nursing degree, (BSN).  Examples of programs that accept our credits include the College of St. Elizabeth and Rutgers University.  Questions regarding transfer can be directed to the Transfer Office.  Many of our graduates have gone on to complete a BSN and other advanced nursing degrees.

Complaints about the program should be directed to the Chairperson of the Nursing Department or to the NJ Board of Nursing:  124 Halsey Street, Newark, NJ 07101.  973-504-6430.
