Unfortunately, there are no magic wands which, when waved, automatically transfer the important information from the textbook to your brain. The investment of your time is a necessary ingredient.

However, a builder would not waste his time trying to build a house without having plans to work from. The information in college textbooks is complex. You need to create a blueprint for yourself of each chapter so you know what you are looking for, and how to put the pieces together. The trick is to be an active reader using the steps presented on the following screens in a modified version of a popular strategy called SQ3R.
