Tricks of the Trade -- TEXTBOOK  READING

Question

When you read a love letter you are reading for a purpose and relating it to what is important to you. You need to apply the same principle to textbook reading -- read for a purpose and relate it to what you know.

  1. Ask yourself:
    • What do you already know?
    • What do you want to know?
    • What will you need to know (for career, for test, etc.)?

  2. Turn headings and subheadings into questions (like Jeopardy)-- ask:
    • Who?
    • What?
    • When?
    • Where?
    • How?
    • Why?
