Tricks of the Trade -- TEXTBOOK READING
Question
When you read a love letter you are reading for a purpose and relating it to what is important to you. You need to apply the same principle to textbook reading -- read for a purpose and relate it to what you know.
- Ask yourself:
- What do you already know?
- What do you want to know?
- What will you need to know (for career, for test, etc.)?
- Turn headings and subheadings into questions (like Jeopardy)-- ask:
- Who?
- What?
- When?
- Where?
- How?
- Why?
