Read & Highlight (or Underline)

1. Read one section at a time.
   
   
2. Read first -- then go back and highlight (or underline).



• Main point (green highlighter or double underline).
  
  
• Supporting details (yellow highlighter or single underline).
  
  
3. Use a 3 x 5 card to keep your place, underline, and check new terms you listed (during your SURVEY) to be clarified.
   
   
4. Number items in a sequence or list.
   
   
5. Put a "?" in the margin next to anything you do not understand. Mark the page number on a 3 x 5 card, a "Post-It" or the front, inside cover of your book. ASK your professor to explain.
   
   
6. Put ( ) around examples of key concepts given in the text.
