Brief Description of Benefits  - Below is a brief description of each benefit plan. These descriptions are not intended to provide all the rights, privileges, or conditions for use of the benefits.   Instead, this listing is intended to provide employees with an overall view of their benefit program.  Detailed information will be provided to the newly hired employee during their benefits orientation.

Statutory Benefits  -  As required by law, the College offers the following statutory benefits:

  • Social Security (FICA)
  • Workers Compensation Insurance
  • Unemployment Compensation Insurance
  • New Jersey and Federal Family & Medical Leave

Retirement Benefits-  Full-time faculty will be enrolled in the Alternate Benefit Program (ABP) if they meet state's eligibility criteria.   New faculty who are currently enrolled in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) must choose to either remain in the PERS pension program or switch to ABP.  

The current vendors offering tax deferred annuity plans under the Alternate benefit Program are:

                     Metlife (formerly CitiStreet)
                     Equitable
                     The Hartford
                     ING
                     TIAA-CREF

In addition, the college offers a 457(b) plan through TIAA-CREF which allows additional tax-deferred contributions to help increase an employee's retirement savings.  This benefit is available to all employees regardless of pension plan participation.


Health Benefits: 

  • State Health Benefit Plan - Membership in the N.J. State Health Benefit Program. This program provides health insurance coverage through either: 1) A Traditional Plan (Blue Cross/Blue Shield); 2) a choice from a number of Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO’s); or 3) a Point of Service Plan (New Jersey Plus Health Plan).
  • Delta Dental of NJ - This plan provides single (employee only) coverage in Delta Dental's Premier Dental Program.  Employees may elect to purchase coverage for their dependents at their own expense.
     
  • Health Benefit Waiver - Employees eligible for health coverage who are covered by another health plan are eligible to waive their health coverage at CCM.  Those who elect to waive coverage will receive quarterly, taxable, cash stipends according to the level of coverage they waive.  Coverage begins the first of the month following a 60 day waiting period from the date of hire.

Wage Replacement Benefits:

  • Life Insurance - Depending on which pension system your position has been assigned to, you may be eligible for the following life insurance benefits through the college. Enrollment in life insurance is accomplished through completion of the pension enrollment application and coverage is effective on the date of pension membership.  Eligibility for coverage and the amount of coverage is determined by the State.
     
    Active members of the Alternate Benefit Program have life insurance which provides death benefits to active employees up to 3 ½ times the last 12 months of base salary earned by the member.  For more information, click on the following link: http://www.state.nj.us/treasury/pensions/abpman.htm

    Long Term Disability Benefits - Depending on which pension system your position has been assigned to, you are eligible to apply for the following life insurance benefits:

    Vested members (1 year of membership in ABP) of the ABP are eligible to receive 60% of regular base earnings for a disability which lasts longer than six months.  Vested members (10 years of PERS membership) of PERS are eligible to receive a pension for permanent disability under the guidelines outlined by the State.


Paid Leave

  • Sick Leave - Full-time faculty members are granted 10 sick leave days on September 1st of each full academic year.  Faculty employed for one semester receive a prorated amount of sick days.
  • Personal Leave - Full-time faculty are entitled to two personal leave days during their first year of employment.  Faculty receive five personal leave days during each subsequent year of employment.

Educational Assistance Benefits:

  • Tuition Reimbursement - Each employee is eligible to apply for reimbursement for up to 6 credits per year of approved graduate courses, up to the prevailing Rutgers University in-state graduate rate. Reimbursement for total group is capped at  $20,000.
  • Professional Courses - Subject to the availability of undesignated funds from the Tuition Reimbursement Account, full-time faculty members may request reimbursement for professional course relevant to the faculty member's responsibility at the College.  There is an overall reimbursement limit for the faculty of up to $5,000.
  • Tuition Waiver - Full-time faculty and their spouses may enroll at CCM for credit courses on a tuition free basis for a combined total of 15 credits per fiscal year.  Dependent children, age 23 or younger, may enroll at CCM for credit courses on a tuition free basis for a total of  30 credits per fiscal year.

Other Benefits:

  • Employee Assistance Program - Provides 2 free, confidential, professional counseling sessions for employees and their covered family members each year.
  • Mileage Reimbursement - Each employee is entitled to mileage reimbursement in accordance with the reimbursement rate established by the Board of Trustees for use of their private automobile while conducting official College business which requires travel.

Convenience Benefits   -  The College offers the following benefits for the convenience of our employees:

  • Credit Union - Employees and their families may join Tri-Co Federal Credit Union
  • Direct Deposit- Employees can automatically deposit their entire paycheck to a bank of their choice.
  • Bookstore Discount - Employees receive a 15% discount on all non-sale items, provided a 15% mark-up exists.  Faculty may also be able to purchase single copies of books at a 20% discount, provided a 20% mark-up exists.  
  • MICRA - The Morris County Industrial Recreation Association is a non-profit organization which provides sports programs including a winter tennis team and summer softball team.  Information is posted on the Benefit Information Web Page and in the CCMemo (Internal Newsletter).

Savings Plans (Voluntary) - Employees have the option of tax sheltering money through the following plans:

  • SACT -  This site provides a plan description of the Supplemental Annuity Collective Trust.  The SACT is a voluntary investment program that provides retirement income separate from, and in addition to, your basic pension plan.  The program is only available to members of PERS.
  • ACTS -   This site provides a plan description of the Additional Contributions Tax-Sheltered (ACTS) Program.  ACTS allows eligible employees to obtain supplemental tax-deferred annuities with a variety of carriers through a salary reduction agreement.
     
  • 457(b)-    The college offers a 457(b) plan through TIAA-CREF which enables you to set aside a portion of your salary on a before-tax basis providing employees another way to save for retirement.  Employees may contribute as much as 100% of gross annual compensation, generally not to exceed the allowable IRS stated maximum.
