Before college, Professor Qvotrup was interested in Spanish and English and thought she might become a K-12 teacher. She was encouraged to pursue a double major in Spanish and business to prepare for a career domestically or internationally. Professor Qvotrup worked for Maersk Line, a global containerized transportation and logistics company. While working on her MBA, she held various positions in IT support, web site design, sales and marketing, business process improvement, and corporate training. Professor Q traveled extensively and was responsible for developing and implementing systems training programs for employees throughout the USA and overseas.
After spending 12 years at Maersk, Professor Q embarked on a second career in higher education. She realized that teaching business and information systems while drawing upon her knowledge and experience in the shipping industry was something that she wanted to do full time. In 2002, she was hired as an adjunct professor at CCM, and in 2016 she was offered a full-time tenure track position with the Department of Business.
Professor Q is most interested in the topics of motivation, leadership style, and talent development. She advises her students to foster a mentoring relationship with a trusted professor, adviser, coach, or co-worker. She can often be found in her office, explaining to students the finer points of Microsoft Excel!
