GOVERNMENT DOCUMENTS COLLECTION

The Learning Resource Center of CCM has been a Congressionally designated depository for Government Documents since 1975, providing free access to Government publications. Librarians are available to assist in research and use of the government documents.

THE FEDERAL DEPOSITORY LIBRARY PROGRAM

The Federal Depository Library Program was established by Congress in keeping with its responsibility to provide the public with information about government policies and programs.  CCM is one of three depositories in the Morris County area, along with Drew University and the College of St. Elizabeth.

FINDING GOVERNMENT DOCUMENTS

Government Documents are located in various parts of the library collection.  They are available in print, microfiche, and online.  Librarians are on duty at the reference desk and can assist patrons in the use of these materials. The materials can be found in the following areas:

PRINT FORM:

Circulating materials are listed in the Library Catalog and can be found in the book stacks or the reserve area at the front desk.

Reference materials are also listed in the Library Catalog, but may not be taken out of the library. Check the Government Documents area in the index alcove.

MICROFICHE:

Materials are available in the Government Documents Microfiche cabinet located in the periodicals area. Documents are arranged by SuDoc (Superintendent of Documents) numbers.

PERIODICALS:

Government documents that are available in periodicals format are listed in the Library Catalog and can be found in the periodicals section of the library, in the reference stacks, or on microfiche.

ONLINE SOURCES:

Firstgov: A government portal for locating information.

GILS (Government Information Locator Service): The U.S. Government Printing Office website which includes documents that are available online.

ORDERING INFORMATION

If a government document is not available in the Learning Resource Center's library, patrons may place an order for the document through the Interlibrary Loan Service.
