The AutoCAD certificate program is designed to teach engineering designers and other professionals who are interested in utilizing the full potential of the latest AutoCAD design software. Learn the fundamentals of AutoCAD in addition to being introduced to new improvements and key enhancements while creating editing and plotting basic shapes to multiview drawings. The courses take a hands-on approach while demonstrating the potential of becoming more efficient and productive. As a professional the concepts and design approach used in AutoCAD provides a firm foundation for learning other similar software applications as well as Autodesk vertical products. Many of the concepts introduced by AutoCAD through use of their commands are utilized by these other similar CAD systems.

CAD 210 - INTRODUCTION TO AUTOCAD

This course is an introductory level AutoCAD course. The purpose of the course is to introduce students to AutoCAD by using basic shapes and modeling techniques commonly used in the drafting/design process by all engineering and design disciplines. The course includes lectures and hands on experience on Window-based computers using the latest AutoCAD software.

Course Objectives
 
After successful completing this course level the student will be able to
  • Create two-dimensional drawings
  • Edit, view manipulation layer and text entry
  • Dimensioning file management and plotting
Prerequisite

Drafting and computer backgrounds strongly recommended
 

CAD 220 - INTERMEDIATE AUTOCAD

Intermediate AutoCAD is a continuation of Introduction to AutoCAD using the latest AutoCAD software. Topics covered include basic dimensioning notes templates plotting parametric and dimensional constraints auxiliary views advanced editing section views assembly drawings and blocks.

Prerequisite:

Introduction to AutoCAD or permission of the instructor.

 

CAD 230 - 3D MODELING

This course builds on the concepts and techniques learned in the Introduction and Intermediate courses to develop advanced drawing models. The objective of this course is to learn commands and techniques to create manipulate and visualize 3D objects and solid models. Topics include working in three-dimensional space using coordinate systems and planes surfacing modeling solid modeling basic and advanced editing of solid models semi-automated drawing generation dimensioning plotting lighting materials and visualization techniques.

Course Objectives
After successful completing this course level the student will be able to
  • Manipulate the UCS
  • Create working planes
  • Work with basic 3D concepts including wireframing surface primitives and surface modeling
 
Prerequisite

Introduction to AutoCAD-Intermediate AutoCAD or permission of the instructor.
