Dennis Bone, president of Verizon New Jersey, will be the honoree of the 2012 County College of Morris (CCM) Foundation Scholarship Gala, to be held Friday, April 27, at the Dolce Hotel and Resort in Basking Ridge.
In addition to presenting Bone with the CCM Foundation Leadership Award, the event will recognize four of the college’s alumni and feature musical performances by students in the CCM Performing Arts program. The annual event raises funds for the college’s scholarship program.
Bone, Verizon’s president since 2000, is one of the state’s most respected business leaders. He is on the board of trustees of the New Jersey Institute of Technology, the Newark Alliance, the Liberty Science Center, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, the New Jersey Center for Teaching and Learning, and the Aviation Research and Technology Park. Bone is also a long-time member of the board of directors of the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center as well as the New Jersey Utilities Association. He is chairman of both the New Jersey State Employment and Training Commission and Choose New Jersey.
In addition to Bone, the evening’s awardees will include alumni Dennis Bostedo ’94 of Budd Lake (Alumnus of the Year); Laura Ryblewski ’94 of Little Falls (Achievement); Dr. Brian Kloss ’02 of Syracuse, NY (Humanitarian); and Donald Sullivan ’99 of Cedar Knolls (Service).
The program will include remarks by student scholarship recipient Heather Smith, performances by music faculty and student cast members from CCM’s spring production of Kismet, and music by the Warren Daniels’ Band. More than 50 silent auction packages also will be available including trips, concert tickets and specialty one-of-a-kind items.
“We’re honored to be presenting our Leadership Award to Dennis Bone, a man who has been a true business leader in this state for many years,” said Joseph Vitale, president of the CCM Foundation. “In addition to honoring Mr. Bone, our gala is a great opportunity to support the important work of County College of Morris and, most importantly, to raise funds for our scholarship program. Without these scholarships, many of our students would have to forgo their dream of a college education.”
Each year, monies raised at the gala and through other fundraising provide more than $200,000 in scholarships for more than 200 CCM students.
The event begins with a cocktail reception at 6:00 p.m. and is followed by dinner and program at 7:30 p.m. The Dolce Hotel and Resort is making rooms available to attendees at discounted rates for overnight stays the evening of the gala.
