CCM Student Literary Magazine Wins Prestigious Award

‘The Promethean’ Takes Gold for 11th Consecutive Year - Posted 11/9/15
“The Promethean,” the award-winning County College of Morris (CCM) student literary magazine, has continued its dominance in the American Graphic Design Awards.

The 2014-15 edition of the magazine was presented with a gold award in the 2015 American Graphic Design Awards in the Publications category. This is the 11th consecutive year the publication has been so honored.

The awards are sponsored by Graphic Design USA, a monthly trade publication for graphic designers that has sponsored national design competitions for 50 years. “The Promethean” was judged against work produced by professional designers, as there are no student-only categories. The competition is very selective, as it is open to the entire design community and recognizes excellence in all media. More than 10,000 submissions were received in this year’s contest, and only 15 percent of those were selected for recognition.

“I am very proud of this unique project and the opportunities that it offers the students here at CCM,” said Kathleen McNeil, adjunct professor of design at CCM who serves as adviser for the publication. “Graphic design students have the opportunity to design and produce a professional project in real time. It’s extremely rewarding to see them win an award against such impressive competition.”

The 2014-2015 student staff was made up of graphic design students Paula Bevacqua, of Cedar Knolls; Perry Capalakos, of West Caldwell; Kylie Eckert, of Succasunna; Bobbi-Lynn Herda, of Dover; and Wassana Techadilok, of Long Valley.
