Registered nurses who have been out of the field for a while and want to update their skills can do so this spring by taking the RN Refresher program at County College of Morris (CCM).
The program is an intensive program for RNs consisting of lectures and mandatory clinical experiences at area hospitals. The course runs May 14 through June 14 but pre-registration is required by March 26.
Topics to be covered include physical assessment, skills review, legal and ethical issues, fluid and electrolyte imbalances, infection control and assessment, and nursing management of major clinical problems. Contact hours will be awarded for participation in the program.
Required documentation for the course includes malpractice insurance ($1-$6 million policy), a current CPR BLS for Health Care Providers (American Heart Association, not Red Cross). Original RN license and malpractice insurance must be presented at the first class. Health clearance requirements include completion of the CCM health form, a criminal history background check and urine drug testing.
The lecture series of the program takes place Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon, May 14 - 30. The clinical sessions take place Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., May 29 - June 14. The cost for the program is $1,495.
