Fine art students from County College of Morris (CCM) have been presented with the opportunity to exhibit their artwork at the Art Upstairs Gallery at the Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) in Morristown. The exhibition, CCM at the MAYO: County College of Morris Student Exhibit, featuring 30 to 40 pieces of student artwork, will be curated by Professor Todd Doney of the Department of Visual Arts at CCM.
The exhibit will be on display from March 19 through April 15 in the Arts Upstairs Gallery, 100 South Street, Morristown.
The opportunity for CCM students to display their work in this setting occurred when Charles Miller, manager of the Art Upstairs Gallery, asked CCM student Mike Dziomba to propose the idea to the college’s Visual Arts faculty. Dziomba reached out to Doney, who jumped at the chance to have CCM students exhibit their work at MPAC.
“Mr. Miller had an opening in his 2014 exhibition schedule and he thought that CCM’s talented student artists would be able to put on a good exhibition,” says Doney. “The students may sell their work at the exhibit if they desire. This added benefit will give the students a real-world experience in the gallery business.”
A reception will be held to celebrate the students’ work on Wednesday, March 26, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Art Upstairs Gallery.
