CCM Professor Todd Doney Holds Solo Art Exhibit at Morris Museum

Exhibit Opens March 28 and Continues Through June 23 - Posted 3/7/2013
Todd L. W. Doney, assistant professor of art at County College of Morris (CCM), will be displaying his artwork at the Morris Museum in a solo exhibition. The exhibition, titled Nature Sublime: Landscape Painting by Todd L. W. Doney, features more than 20 of Doney’s works depicting New Jersey’s Great Swamp.

The exhibit opens March 28 with an opening reception from 6 – 8 p.m. The exhibition runs until June 23. The Morris Museum, www.morrismuseum.org, is located at 6 Normandy Heights Road, Morristown. The museum’s hours are 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday, and noon – 5 p.m. Sunday.

Doney’s artwork features a variety of landscapes inspired from his own backyard—the Great Swamp Wildlife Refuge. Doney’s paintings reflect the beauty and variety of nature through the seasons, accented by the vivid colors of the setting sun. Doney describes his paintings as Neo-Impressionistic and Neo-Romantic, drawing inspiration from both classic and modern landscape artists.

“Exhibiting my work at the Morris Museum is a wonderful opportunity and a milestone in my artistic career,” said Doney.

Doney began his education at a community college and went on to attend the prestigious American Academy of Art in Chicago. He joined the CCM faculty in 2011, where he now teaches drawing, painting, portfolio and presentation classes.
