The National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR), District 1, has selected Kathleen Brunet Eagan, director of Communications and College Relations at County College of Morris (CCM), as the recipient of its 2014 Communicator of the Year award.
The award recognizes Eagan, of Jefferson, for her leadership and ability in the area of college marketing and communications. Eagan will receive the award at the District 1 Conference in National Harbor, MD, on October 13.
NCMPR is an organization of marketing and public relations professionals who serve the promotional needs of two-year colleges.
District 1 consists of professionals from community, technical and junior colleges in the Eastern United States from Maine to the District of Columbia, as well as the Maritime Provinces of Canada and the United Kingdom.
Eagan’s nomination cited her for guiding the development of the college’s social media platforms, expanding the college’s institutional profile, and initiating and managing the launch of CCM’s first online college catalog.
She joined CCM in 2010 after operating her own marketing communications firm for several years, serving such clients as Rutgers University, Seton Hall University School of Law and the New Jersey Small Business Development Centers. She previously served as director of communications for the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, and as assistant director of communications and science publicist for Rutgers University, Newark. She began her career as a journalist, covering local government and education for newspapers in Massachusetts and Virginia.
Eagan received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and her Master of Public Administration from Rutgers University.
She is the recipient of numerous awards including an American Society of Association Executives Award of Excellence and several Pyramid Awards from the Public Relations Society of America, New Jersey Chapter, for online/interactive technology, marketing communications and publication design.
