CCM Student Literary Magazine Wins Another National Honor

Promethean Receives Publication Design Award from Graphic Design USA - Posted 9/30/13
A consistent national award-winner, the student-produced Promethean literary magazine at County College of Morris (CCM) has a new honor to add to its long list of recognitions. The 2012-2013 issue recently was presented with a national Award of Distinction in the Publications design category from Graphic Design USA (GD USA), bringing the magazine’s total awards since 2005 to 22.

The award, which placed the Promethean against submissions from major design and marketing firms, marks the eighth consecutive year the publication has been presented with this honor. Also included in the Promethean’s list of awards are five Creativity International awards.

The 2012-2013 student staff was made up of graphic design students Eric Vita of Morris Plains, Nyssa Wawra of Lake Hopatcong, Jessica Swingle of Succasunna, Kristin McFall of Hewitt, Cheryl Schoch of Flanders and Jhon Grisales of Dover.

“There were more than 8,000 entries in this year's contest and only 15 percent, or approximately 1,200 pieces, were selected for awards,” said Kathy McNeil, faculty advisor for the Promethean. “Once again, our student designers and contributors are part of a very select group chosen for this national recognition. I am grateful to all the members of the CCM community who were part of this latest honor. The continued success of this publication is a reflection of the college's commitment to its students.”

GD USA is a monthly trade publication for graphic designers that sponsors national competitions to showcase the outstanding work of design, marketing and communications professionals.
