M. Celeste Wayne of Morris Plains, assistant professor of Nursing at County College of Morris (CCM), has been named Nurse Educator of the Year by the Philippine Nurse Association of New Jersey.
The award will be presented to Wayne at the association’s 36th Nursing Excellence and Scholarship Awards Night on September 21 at the Marriot Newark Airport.
“We’re delighted that Professor Wayne is receiving this award. She is an outstanding nurse educator with a passion for ensuring the success of her students and incorporating technology into nursing education,” said Monica Maraska, chair of the CCM Nursing program.
Wayne has been a member of the CCM faculty since 2002. At CCM, she has incorporated new technology into the nursing curriculum and served on numerous campus committees, including the Three-Year Technology Strategic Planning Committee. She is a member of a number of professional associations including the American Nurses Association, New Jersey State Nurses Association, American Association of Critical Care Nurses, National League for Nursing and the Philippine Nurses Association of New Jersey where she has served as treasurer, board member and chair of the Scholarship Committee.
She earned her MSN from Columbia University and BSN from Colegio de Santa Isabel. She also earned a Certificate in Nursing Education from Rutgers University and Certificate in Distance Education from Thomas Edison State College. Currently, she is enrolled in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
