The spectacular image shown here is one of the first to be returned from MESSENGER's second flyby of Mercury.

On January 15, 2001, 17 days after it passed its closest approach to Jupiter, NASA's Cassini spacecraft looked back to see the giant planet as a thinning crescent. A crescent Io, innermost of Jupiter's four large moons, appears to the left of Jupiter.
Speeding toward the pale, icy moon Dione, Cassini's view is enriched by the tranquil gold and blue hues of Saturn in the distance. The horizontal stripes near the bottom of the image are Saturn's rings.
