Hoai Thuong graduated CCM in May of 2012, completing her degree in 2 years with a 4.0 GPA. This upcoming Fall 2012, she will enter Rutgers University to pursue a degree in Accounting. She acknowledges County College of Morris and EOF specifically for helping her become a well prepared transfer student.
She credits her success at CCM by starting out right and attending the two week EOF summer orientation. She says this experience provided her with a great start to her college education. It was there she met amazing friends and acquired the academic study skills to become an excellent student. She credits CCM and EOF as providing her with a chance to discover herself and to meet new people.
Through her involvement with EOF, she also enhanced her knowledge and skills by attending various helpful workshops and performing community service. She feels EOF at CCM provided her with a second family and she will always be very appreciative of the many ways it helped her succeed. As a result of her working with the EOF staff, she became a more mature, diligent, and disciplined person.
Her family is her biggest motivation to continue striving for academic and professional growth. They came to the states as immigrants and endured many difficulties in order to enable her to finish school. Through her parents, she understands how hard life would be without the benefit of a good education.
Her advice to other students is, to “stay strong and believe in yourself” and to remember, “Life is not only about receiving, but also in giving to others.”
