FEDERAL GRANTS

Federal Pell Grant -  Pell Grants are the foundation of federal student aid, to which aid from other federal and nonfederal sources might be added.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (SEOG)  - Federal Pell Grant eligibility applicants with the highest financial need are awarded Federal SEOG on a first-come, first-served, funds available basis.

FEDERAL LOANS

Federal Stafford Loan - Subsidized - Subsidized Federal Stafford Loans are made to students who demonstrate financial need. These students are eligible to have the federal government pay the interest on the loan to the lender while the student borrower is enrolled in school, in grace or during periods of authorized deferment.

Federal Stafford Loan - Unsubsidized - Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loans are made to students who do not demonstrate sufficient financial need, but who require additional funds for schools. An Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loan can also be used to supplement a Subsidized Federal Stafford Loan. Additionally, an independent student or a dependent student whose parents are not eligible for PLUS loans may be eligible for an Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loan. Students with Unsubsidized Federal Stafford loans do not have any interest paid on their behalf by the federal government.

PLUS Loan
A Federal PLUS loan is available to an eligible parent of a dependent undergraduate student attending a participating post-secondary school on at least a half-time basis. The parent may apply for a PLUS loan for the total cost of education minus any financial aid assistance received.  The parent borrower is responsible for paying to the lender the interest that accrues on the loan from the time the loan is disbursed until it is paid in full.
