What is EOF

The Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) program was established by the New Jersey State Legislature in 1968. The program was created to provide an opportunity for educationally and economically disadvantaged New Jersey residents to enroll in and graduate from college.

Since its inception, the EOF program has enrolled an average of 12,000 annually in 57 colleges and universities across New Jersey. EOF admissions and financial aid eligibility decisions are made at the campus level, within the context of state guidelines.

The County College of Morris established the New Jersey Educational Opportunity Fund program on its campus in 1969. In addition to providing supplemental financial aid and congruent with the institutional mission of CCM, the EOF Program provides a gateway to higher education for students who are challenged academically and financially. The program provides comprehensive services designed to foster persistence to graduation, academic achievement and personal and leadership development. In addition, it performs a pipeline function to facilitate the pursuit of educational goals at a four year institution, career goals in the workplace, cultural awareness, and citizenship responsibility as future leaders in the community and in the global society.

EOF provides more than financial aid. It offers a variety of support services such as tutoring, counseling and personal, academic, and leadership development opportunities. The goal of the program is to support and encourage student growth throughout their course of study.

The EOF program offers a pre-college summer orientation that includes an intensive academic schedule, counseling and tutoring. EOF helps make the transition to college easier. The program has demonstrated ability to help students remain in college through a structured process, to improve academic performance, and to guide them toward successful employment or admissions to four-year or graduate schools.

EOF at County College of Morris
County College of Morris (CCM) is committed to recruiting, financing, and encouraging educationally and economically disadvantaged students. The EOF program is one of the ways in which CCM fulfills this commitment to diversity.

The EOF staff at County College of Morris believes that the pursuit of intellectual growth, which empowers one to become a productive member of the family, the community and society, is both a right and a responsibility. Given this belief, the staff is committed to providing a nurturing, supportive environment, which encourages intellectual growth and helps prepare the student to become a productive citizen.
