A message from President Yaw
County College of Morris is a smoke-free institution. This applies to the use of any form of tobacco products, including, but not limited to cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco, or electronic cigarettes. As such, smoking is NOT permitted anywhere on-campus except inside individuals’ personal automobiles. Anyone who is observed to be in violation of this policy will be subjected to the appropriate disciplinary sanctions, regardless that they are students, employees, or visitors.
Since this policy has been in effect, we realize that some people require assistance either in getting through their day without smoking or seeing this as an opportunity to quit smoking. Anyone who requires this type of assistance should contact the Office of Health Services in Cohen Hall, B222 for appropriate resources and guidance.
Finally, everyone on-campus should take ownership of our No Smoking Policy. Should you see someone who is smoking on-campus take the time to inform them about the policy and ask that they extinguish and discard their tobacco product immediately. If, on the other hand, you are not comfortable in approaching the individual, contact the Office of Public Safety with a description of the individual and the location of the violation. They will assume responsibility for speaking with the violator.
