CCM’s Jack Sullivan Named National Athletic Director of the Year

Receives Prestigious NACDA Under Armour Award – Posted 5/27/14

Jack Sullivan, director of athletics at County College of Morris (CCM), has been named a recipient of the prestigious Under Armour Athletics Directors of the Year Award.

Sullivan, of Garwood, joins a group of 27 other winners from seven divisions across three countries chosen by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). His name is accompanied by the likes of Virginia Tech’s Jim Weaver and UCLA’s Dan Guerrero. He is also one of only four junior college athletic directors from across the country to receive the award.

“I am truly honored to be receiving the 2013-14 Under Armour Athletics Directors of the Year Award,” Sullivan said about the honor. “Congratulations to all the award winners. It is my pleasure to have my name amongst yours.”

Sullivan will be honored with the award during the James J. Corbett Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, June 11, at the NACDA’s 49th Annual Convention at the World Center Marriott Resort in Orlando, FL. At last year’s convention, former long-time CCM athletic director Jack Martin was inducted into the NACDA Hall of Fame for his career contribution to the world of collegiate athletics.

Sullivan has been director of athletics at CCM since 2002. He previously served as the head basketball coach and assistant athletic director at Bloomfield College. Prior to that, he was the head baseball coach, assistant basketball coach and intramural director at Fairleigh Dickinson University– Florham Campus.

Winners were selected internationally and all NACDA-member directors who met the criteria were eligible. According to the NACDA, among the criteria were service as an athletic director for a minimum of five academic years; demonstration of commitment to higher education and student-athletes; continuous teamwork, loyalty and excellence; and the ability to inspire individuals or groups to high levels of accomplishments.

NACDA is the professional and educational association for more than 10,400 college athletics administrators at more than 1,600 institutions throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.
