Corporate and Private Foundation Representatives Will Gather on November 6 – Posted 10/27/15
On Friday, November 6, County College of Morris (CCM) will host a panel discussion and breakfast to examine the changing face of the non-profit industry in Morris County. The event, which begins at 7:30 a.m. in the Sherman H. Masten Learning Resource Center, Multi-Purpose Room, will feature Bill Byrnes, vice president of the F.M. Kirby Foundation; Ada Melendez-McGuinness, vice president and director of Community Development for Investors Bank; Wanda Sims, manager of Philanthropy and Community Development at Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation; and Steven Yagozinski, director for Realogy Charitable Foundation.

“Over the last few years, obtaining funding from corporate and private foundations has become highly competitive. Funders are becoming more selective and targeted in their giving,” said Lauren Swern, an adjunct instructor who teaches a course in grant writing at CCM. “We’re pleased to be able to present this group of representatives, who will be able to provide valuable insights into how funding decisions are being made today. We’re also happy to invite graduates from our grant writing program to attend. Over the last two years, more than 60 non-profit staff, board members and volunteers have graduated from the program, helping them to raise thousands of additional dollars for their organizations.”
The event, which will conclude at 9:30 a.m., includes continental breakfast and a networking period prior to the panel discussion. It is open to the non-profit community, funders and past and current students of CCM’s Grant Writing Certificate program.
