Featuring the Work of New Jersey Photography Forum Members – Posted 1/12/15
More than a dozen award-winning photographers will feature their work at the New Jersey Photography Forum (NJPF) exhibition in the County College of Morris (CCM) Art Gallery starting next month.
Titled “Dimensions: A NJPF Invitational,” the exhibit will explore the broad spectrum of possibilities available to today’s photographic artists. It also will offer viewers an opportunity to take a trip through the modern-day world of photography.
The exhibit opens February 11 and runs until April 2. An artists’ reception is scheduled for Thursday, February 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. All works will be available for sale.
A total of 15 NJPF members have been invited to participate in the exhibit. Each will present a series of images that reflect a particular specialty or focus from the full range of possibilities that are available, including traditional film photography and new digital technologies and cell phone cameras. Subjects will include landscapes, graphic manipulations, portraits and abstracts.
“This exhibit will not only be a visually exciting event for the viewer, it will also be instructional and inspirational for the young student photographer who is just starting to explore the art form,” says Nancy Ori, co-curator for the exhibit. “We are very happy to be partnering with County College of Morris with this special project. As an organization, we are dedicated to developing the art form of photography and assisting artists to grow and develop in the field. This exhibit is a part of what we do all the time.”
Photographers who will be participating in the exhibit are Peter Alessandria, Dover; Marvinn Cline, Warren; William Cohen, Flanders; Paul Donohoe, Point Pleasant; Tom Hart, Bayonne; Theresa Hood, Blooming Glen, PA; Charlann Meluso, Berkley Heights; Charles Miller, Ringoes; Kathleen Nademus, Fords; Nancy Ori, Berkley Heights; Caryn Seifer, Morristown; Tom Stillman, South Plainfield; Heidi Sussman, West Orange; Branch Watkins, Morristown; and Ray Yaros, Lebanon.
Each of the photographers has exhibited in shows throughout New Jersey and around the country. All work in multiple styles but are also known for work in specialized areas of photography.
“We are very pleased to be partnering with one of the largest photography groups in New Jersey to present this special exhibit in our gallery,” says Todd Doney, professor of visual arts and curator of the CCM gallery.
The CCM gallery is located on the first floor of the Sherman H. Masten Learning Resource Center on the college’s Randolph campus, 214 Center Grove Road. Hours are Mondays and Wednesdays, noon to 5 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays, noon to 8 p.m.; Fridays, noon to 4 p.m.; and the first Saturday of the month from noon to 3 p.m.
