Phi Theta Kappa International Honors CCM President – Posted 2/19/16
The Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) International Honor Society has selected Dr. Edward J. Yaw, president of County College of Morris (CCM), as a recipient of its Michael Bennett Lifetime Achievement Award.
The award will be presented at PTK’s annual convention in April in National Harbor, Maryland.
The award is presented to retiring community college administrators who have supported PTK’s endeavors consistently throughout their careers by encouraging student success and empowerment. The award is named after the late Dr. Michael Bennett, a long-term president of St. Petersburg College in Florida. Yaw will be retiring at the end of August after serving 30 years as CCM president.
“It is truly an honor not only to receive this award, but also to have had the opportunity to work so closely with the bright students in PTK throughout these many years,†said Yaw.
Yaw was nominated by the Alpha Kappa Kappa chapter of PTK at CCM. The Alpha Kappa Kappa chapter has a strong connection with Yaw’s presidency. The chapter was officially chartered at CCM in 1986, the same year Yaw become president.
PTK is the largest honor society for two-year colleges with 1,285 chapters on college campuses. More than three million students have been inducted internationally since it was founded in 1918.
