Four Educational Opportunity Fund Students Recognized – Posted 4/15/16
Four County College of Morris (CCM) Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) students recently were presented with awards from the New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education for their success in college.
The EOF students, who will be graduating this May, and the awards they received are Outstanding Academic Achievement to Brayan Aroca, of Dover, and Lori Macula, of Stanhope; and Academic Achievement to Erika Pulido, of Dover. Presented with an Outstanding Achievement award was Guadalupe Barrio, of Dover, who graduated in the fall of 2015.
The awards were presented earlier this month at a luncheon held at Monmouth University.
“These awards recognize the academic achievement and success of EOF students across the entire state of New Jersey and we’re very proud of our students for earning this recognition,” said Pamela Marcenaro, EOF director.
“Our EOF scholars face a number of challenges in their path to academic success, but their resilience to get it done, is like no other.”
EOF is a state-sponsored program available to students who have the will and desire to go to college but need additional academic and financial support. EOF was established in 1968 by the New Jersey State Legislature and began at CCM in 1969. Since its inception, the EOF program has grown to serve over 13,000 students annually at 28 public and 13 independent colleges across New Jersey. Currently, 12.5 percent of first time, full-time freshmen who enter New Jersey state colleges and universities each fall are EOF students.
