How involved is the application process?
The application process involves completing an online application, a FAFSA, and ESU transfer application (if you are nearing the time of transfer). Supporting documents will be needed as well, including, transcripts (unofficial works), three letters of recommendations, and a personal statement. But do not worry, your CCM Clear Path representative is here to assist you.
How is financial need determined?

Can international students apply?
Clear Path Scholars must be citizens of the United States, nationals of the United States (as defined in section 101(a) of the Immigration and Nationality Act), aliens admitted as refugees under section 207 of the Immigration and Nationality Act, or aliens lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence.
Do I need to complete a certain number of credits before I can apply to Clear Path?
No, you do not. You can apply as a new student to CCM.
My GPA isn’t the best, can I still apply?
Absolutely. Clear Path Scholars are selected using a number of criteria. GPA is only one component in scholar selection – a minimum community college GPA is not specified.
If selected as a Clear Path Scholar do I have to be a full-time student?
We encourage all of our Clear Path Scholars to be full-time students (at least twelve credits) whenever possible; however, students taking at least six credits are eligible for the program. We like to see our scholars be full-time to ensure efficient degree completion.
I am currently not an eligible major but plan to be at ESU. Can I still apply?
Yes, you can. The majors specified are majors at ESU. You can be majoring in anything at your community college. However, we suggest that you are majoring in a closely related program here at CCM. This will ensure timely completion and support the transfer of coursework to ESU.
I am currently a high school student taking courses at CCM. Am I eligible to apply for Clear Path?
Yes, you are. However, you must have plans to continue at CCM and then eventually to ESU.
I took some of my science courses online at CCM. Is this okay?
At CCM, your online courses will count towards your degree, however, there are some restrictions on virtual courses at ESU. Please work closely with the designated CCM Clear Path representation for advisement on these courses.
Will I be required to attend Clear Path events outside of class time?
Yes, part of this program will help mentor you, provide you with training, and offer other activities designed to help maximize your success. Some are required, others are optional. None will require more than a few extra hours a semester.
I do not know much about ESU and not sure if I should apply. What should I do?
Speak with designated CCM Clear Path representation, Samantha Gigliotti, she attended ESU as an undergraduate and graduate student and she would be happy to discuss anything about ESU you’d wish to know.
