Healing and (Re)Building the Community: Recounts of the Korean War

05/04/2021 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM

Join the Commemoration Committee as they recognize Asian Pacific Heritage Month with a virtual event on Tuesday, May 4 at 12:30PM: “Healing and (Re)Building the Community: Recounts of the Korean War”. Presenter Dr. Yoonha Shin of the English & Philosophy Department notes, “Wedged between World War II and the Vietnam War, the Korean War is often dubbed as America’s “Forgotten War.” The War was, nevertheless, a foundational event in the history of contemporary Korea, Korean Americans, and US-Korea relations. Commemorating Asian Pacific Heritage Month, this talk explores the significance of the Korean War and the process of rebuilding the Korean community through the perspectives of ordinary people and their experiences.”
