Recounts of the Korean War with Dr. Yoonha Shin

Thursday, May 5 at 12:30 p.m. on Zoom

A Commemoration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

Wedged between World War II and the Vietnam War, the Korean War is often dubbed as America’s “Forgotten War.” The War was, nevertheless, a foundational event in the history of contemporary Korea, Korean Americans, and US-Korea relations. Granddaughter of a “sil-hyang-min” (internally displaced people during the Korean War), Dr. Yoonha Shin from the English and Philosophy Department at CCM revives her talk from last year to reach out to a larger audience. In this talk, she will discuss the significance of the Korean War and the process of rebuilding the Korean community through the perspectives of ordinary people and their experiences.

Sponsor: The Legacy Project’s Commemoration Committee
