Greg Kalember has been creating original music for film and television for over 20 years. His scores for television include the PBS documentary series â€śCircusâ€ť, and â€śCarrierâ€ť (Icon Productions). Kalember has scored many other documentary series such as â€śExplorerâ€ť (National Geographic), â€śBiographyâ€ť (A&E), and the classic anime series â€śShaman Kingâ€ť (Fox). His film credits include â€śVoices Unbound: The Story of the Freedom Writersâ€ť, â€śPokemon â€“ The First Movieâ€ť, â€śShoot Downâ€ť (Rogues Harbor Productions), the award winning â€śAsparagus! â€“ Stalking the American Lifeâ€ť, and â€śBlood in the Sandâ€ť by Noah Haidle and Sam Gold.
Recently he completed the score for the Emmy award winning â€śThe Homestretchâ€ť (Kartemquin Films) as part of PBS Independent Lens series, which was named to Bill Moyersâ€™ top 10 social justice documentary films of 2014 list. He is the co-composer of the multimedia production â€śBasetrack Liveâ€ť which was selected as a New York Times critics pick, and featured in Charles Isherwoodâ€™s Top 10 in theater for 2014 after itâ€™s successful national tour and New York presentation at Brooklyn Academy of Musicâ€™s Next Wave
Kalember also composed and produced the score for the Ken Burns produced documentary series â€śCancer: The Emperor of All Maladiesâ€ť, directed by Barak Goodman.
Greg is one of the founders of Sonic Highway Music and Sound. Many of his productions were featured at the 100th anniversary of the United States entry into WWI, hosted by the U.S. World War I Centennial Commission at the National WWI Museum and Memorial in Kansas City, MO on April 6th 2017. His music for the score to the documentary feature â€śSacredâ€ť is currently playing in theaters around the country.
