Romeo & Juliet opens to a street in Verona where we are thrown into the middle of a long-standing bloody and brutal battle between two families, the Capulets and the Montagues. As chance would have it, the only children of these two families meet and fall in love. Once they learn the other’s true identity, they decide to defy the hatred between their families and are married in secret. Soon after, in a conflict of pride, their cousins break into a brawl. Romeo tries to intervene, but his cousin is killed. Filled with guilt and rage, Romeo goes after Juliet’s cousin and the two ill-fated families are faced with secrets, betrothals, betrayals, and death.
