Professor Prokop began her nursing career working as a staff nurse at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. While working as a nurse on a neuro-oncology unit, Professor Prokop completed her graduate degree in teaching. She previously worked per diem at Morristown Memorial Hospital in the Neuro-ICU. In 1992, Professor Prokop began her teaching career at the County College of Morris. She has taught Nursing 3 for one year, Nursing 4 for 6 years and has been teaching Nursing 2 since 2000. Professor Prokop was the team leader of Nursing 2 from 2004 – 2013 and resumed that role in 2016.

During her time at the college, Professor Prokop has played an integral part in bringing technology to the nursing program. She co-developed the first nursing course website, introduced computerized testing, implemented the Human Patient Simulator (HPS) in the nursing curriculum, and most recently, integrated the Student Response System in the classroom.

Professor Prokop is a member of the National League of Nursing, American Nurses Association, and Sigma Theta Tau.
