County College of Morris (CCM) turned up the energy on Saturday, November 16, as alumni, family and fans gathered for an unforgettable Athletic Hall of Fame induction. This year’s event celebrated the remarkable achievements of CCM’s most influential Titans — honoring the student-athletes who have set records, coaches who have inspired greatness and others in the community who left an indelible mark on the college’s athletic history.
With Jack Sullivan, director of Athletics, serving as emcee, the atmosphere was electric as the Class of 2024 inductees were formally welcomed into the CCM Hall of Fame. This year’s honorees, the third class to be inducted since 2019, represented a legacy of excellence and passion that continues to inspire Titans past, present, and future.
The 2024 inductees are accomplished athletes who have shaped CCM’s athletic legacy including former MLB star Joe McEwing ‘91. Known for his impressive nine-season career, McEwing made his mark with the St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets, setting rookie records and embodying versatility as an athlete.
CCM Alumni Inductees
- Nick Axleson ‘19, golf, of Succasunna, NJ ― Served as Team Captain and All-American during both years at CCM, earning the Titan Award for exceptional performance. Nick received a full scholarship to Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), where he competed as a top 3 player on the golf team and graduated Magna Cum Laude from SCAD, combining athletic and academic excellence.
- Katlyn Lloyd ‘19, softball, of Ogdensburg, NJ ― Two-time NJCAA All-American and two-time Region 19 Player of the Year at CCM, Katlyn demonstrated elite performance on the field. She holds the all-time CCM records in multiple categories: 160 hits, 150 runs, 108 RBIs, 28 home runs, and 14 triples, and achieved an impressive 73 stolen bases, displaying her speed and skill as a standout softball player.
- Mary Mastriani ‘17, softball, of Montague, NJ ― Named Pitcher of the Year in Region 19, highlighting her dominance on the mound, Mary holds the CCM record for most career wins with an impressive 43 victories, and achieved a career record of 43-13, displaying her consistent success as a top pitcher.
- Joe McEwing ‘91, baseball, of Bristol, PA ― All-American and Region XIX MVP at CCM, with a CCM single season batting record of .495 and a career average of .408. Joe was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1992, where he earned Rookie of the Year in 1999 and set a rookie record with a 25-game hitting streak, played nine MLB seasons with a .251 average, playing every position except pitcher and catcher, and joined the New York Mets in 2000 after being traded for All-Star Jesse Orosco.
- John Udell ‘75, skiing, of Monmouth Beach, NJ ― NJCAA First Team All-American in Slalom, Giant Slalom and Downhill at CCM (1974-1975), awarded Governor’s Cup as New Jersey’s top skier and achieved First Runner-Up Ski meister at the NJCAA Championships, marking him as one of the top all-around collegiate skiers. John has been named to the Eastern Inter-Collegiate Ski Association All-East Ski Team and All-New England Intercollegiate Ski Team at Johnson State College, where he also captained the varsity ski and soccer teams.
- Kevin Wise ‘91, basketball, of Middletown, DE ― First Team All-American and First Team All-Region XIX at CCM, with impressive career stats of 16.7 points and 9 rebounds per game and a 62% field goal percentage. Kevin achieved CCM records in multiple categories: Most Free Throws Made in a Season (90-91), 3rd in career rebounds (522), and 5th in career points (973), and led CCM as Co-Captain to the program’s first National Div II Junior College Tournament appearance (finishing 5th) and a Region XIX Tournament Championship (90-91), with the team ranked 1st nationally in defense both seasons.
- Rich Wojtasiak ‘76, ice hockey, of Chino Hills, CA ― Selected for the All-Tournament Team at the Schaefer Invitational in Lake Placid (1975) and chosen to participate in a One-on-One Exhibition for the Mennen Arena Dedication. Rich has been recognized as a Bi-State Metropolitan Inter-Collegiate All-Star (1975-76) and earned NJCAA All-America 2nd Team honors in ice hockey (1976) while competing at CCM. Rich was previously honored in 2022 as part of the CCM Athletic Hall of Fame for contributions to the 1975 Men’s Ice Hockey Team.
Additional inductees included former CCM coaches: Dennis Morgan, baseball, of Washington, NJ; Lee Seras, baseball, of Breer, SC; and Greg Wardlow, softball, of Marina Del Ray, CA; former CCM Vice President of Student Development & Enrollment Management, Dr. Bette Simmons, having dedicated 42 years of her life to enhancing the student experience at CCM; the 1991 men’s basketball team; and the 2019 softball team. Jack Gallagher, recipient of this year’s Contribution Award, was honored posthumously.
