Visitors Can Enjoy Exhibition of Fine Art through April 16
A curated collection of artwork from students at County College of Morris (CCM) is on display at the Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) in Morristown for visitors to enjoy starting today and running through April 16.
The exhibition, now in its tenth year, features approximately 35 pieces of fine art by students in the Visual Arts and Animation Programs at CCM. The exhibit is curated by Todd Doney, associate professor in CCM’s Department of Art and Humanities, and features works of his talented students in various mediums including charcoal, ink, pastel, colored pencil, mixed media and digital.
The exhibit is being held at the MPAC’s Art Upstairs Galley, located at 100 South Street in Morristown. A free public reception will be held on Tuesday, March 26, from 5 to 7 p.m.
“We are proud of our longstanding partnership with the MPAC, which provides the opportunity for our students to showcase their artwork in the local community,” said Doney. “It has been a pleasure to select pieces of artwork for this exhibition and to work with MPAC’s Art Upstairs Gallery and Charles Miller, program consultant for the gallery, to make this exhibition come to life.”
The exhibition is a juried art exhibit, meaning participants will be receiving awards based on the selections from an artist who serves as the judge. This year’s exhibit will be juried by Morris County-based Dan Fenelon, who has been an artist, muralist, illustrator and graphic designer for over 20 years.
The Visual Arts Program at CCM will be awarding gift certificates from Blick Art Materials to the winning student artists. This includes $75 for Best in Show, $50 for Award of Merit and $25 for Honorable Mention. Additionally, the New Jersey Art Association (NJAA) will donate a $100 prize to the Best in Show winner, which will be presented at the reception on March 26 by Mike Dziomba, President of NJAA.
