About Teen Arts
What is Teen Arts?
A one day in person celebration of youth arts.
The festival provides a chance for students to submit work for critique and display as well as earn the opportunity to gain entry to New Jersey’s State Teen Arts Festival.
What to expect
Performances, critiquing seminars and hands-on workshops.
Who can participate?
The festival is open to public and private schools as well as homeschoolers.
- Middle schoolers and high schoolers are welcome and encouraged to attend the festival
- The public is welcome to attend the event and peruse student artwork and performances
- The festival is ADA accessible

Visual Arts submissions can include both 2D and 3D, as well as animation, video and film.
Art & Design Information
General Information
- Panels will be set up in the Sherman Masten Learning Resource Center (LRC) with supplies for each teacher to install their own student’s works.
- Spaces will not be assigned to schools and will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Please work with the on-site CCM rep when installing your exhibit.
- Each school is permitted to install no more than 25 pieces onto the panels. 3D and significantly heavy pieces will be displayed on nearby tables.
- All work should be matted and should not exceed the dimensions of 18” x 24”.
- Any work larger than 18” x 24”, must be approved by the Teen Arts team.
- It is the installing teacher’s responsibility to have work ready for installation. Please include the students name, school, and teacher’s name on the back of all work.
- Each school may include a small “banner” that can be placed at the top of the panel, indicating the school and teacher.
- All installed work must have a paper label with the student’s name, school, teacher, title of work and medium used.
- The required label is provided by CCM (download labels here below) and pinned at the lower right corner of each piece.
- Please forward the inventory list (download inventory list belowe) of all work to be displayed to teenarts@ccm.edu, prior to load-in/installation date.
- Load-in, installation date is scheduled for Friday, May 3rd, 2024, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
- CCM is not responsible for any damage or loss to any artwork brought to campus.
- All artwork not identified as a category prize winner, must be removed from the exhibition by Friday, May 17, 2024. Please arrange pickup with teenarts@ccm.edu.

We welcome performances based on this theme, including group or solo performance submissions of dance, instrumental music, vocal music, and dramatic or musical theatre.
Performing Arts Information
General Information
The Teen Arts Festival aims to provide the opportunity to celebrate uniquely talented students from your school. In keeping with this year’s theme “Art and Identity”, we welcome performances of non-traditional descriptions in our critiqued events categories and can include group or solo performance submissions of dance, instrumental music, vocal music, and dramatic or musical theatre. We also welcome performances outside of traditional Classical or Broadway styles and can include genres such as arts from other cultures, contemporary, fusion, and other non-traditional music, dance, and theatre forms.
Please complete and submit the appropriate Performing Art Submission Form located below heading to the left no later than May 3, 2023 whether your students will be submitting work or just attending this celebration of our teens.
The registration must be sent by an official representative from the participating school including individual instructors of students, but not by the students themselves.
Student may submit one piece to multiple categories i.e. visual, performing, dance, creative writing, etc.
All work must be suitable for public display.
Artwork Submission Criteria / Installation Guidelines
We will be accepting registration in critiqued categories of Instrumental Music, Vocal Music, Musical Theatre, Dramatic Theatre, and Dance. The submissions can be either solo or group but must be received by Teen Arts through the registration procedure in order to be scheduled.
Each submission will be assigned a time on the festival day where students can perform live. Immediately after, there will be a verbal critique from the Teen Arts mentors. The written critique will be mailed to the participating school after the festival, along with ranking for referral to the state level.

Registration fees
Fees from $25-700 depending on the number of students attending per school. (Please see the above referenced website for more detailed information on the registration tiers. Individual students are welcome to register).
Deadlines
The deadline for registration is April 12, 2024. The deadline for payment is Friday, May 3, 2024. Note that space is limited and will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

Note that schools/students may attend without submitting work or scheduling performances and may come simply to participate in the workshops and festival. In such cases, registration and payment are still required.

How to submit artwork and/or schedule performances?
Submissions for the Visual Arts Exhibition must install all work in the open space located in the Sherman Masten Learning Resource Center. Dates available for installation- Friday, May 3rd and Monday, May 6th, 2024. Each school will be given 1-2 panels to display student 2D work. Panels will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Nearby tables will be available for 3D work. For digital submissions, please email the Teen Arts Coordinators at teenarts@ccm.edu for instructions. Submissions must include completed labels found on the Teen Arts website.
All work must be submitted with the student’s name, school information, age, title, and medium indicated on the online submission form.
Submissions for performing arts/requests for scheduling for Festival Day performances must be submitted by Friday April 12, 2024, via the online submission forms on the CCM/Morris County Teen Arts website.
Note: All submitted work must be appropriate for public display, or it will not be exhibited/scheduled for performance. The decision of the Teen Arts Committee is final in this regard.
Note too that the submission of a registration form constitutes permission to use photographs of participants and/or artwork for promotion of the event.
