County College of Morris Awarded AI Apprenticeship Grant from NJCCC
One of Only Two Community Colleges Selected; Leading NJ’s Training for In-Demand Careers in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence
County College of Morris (CCM) has been selected by the state as one of only two community colleges to partner with the AI Hub at Princeton University and the New Jersey Council of County Colleges in training the workforce to be proficient in Artificial Intelligence (AI). Supported by the state’s first U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) – Registered Data Scientist AI Apprenticeship grant, CCM is positioned as a leader in preparing New Jersey’s workforce for proficiency in data science and artificial intelligence across a wide range of industries, covering tuition and fees for apprentices pursuing careers in these rapidly growing, high-demand fields.
This 16-to-18-month program integrates both career-focused classroom instruction and paid, on-the-job training. Apprentices will work alongside industry mentors learning to apply statistical methods, programming, and machine learning techniques to analyze data and build predictive models. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will earn a nationally recognized U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion, as well as a 30-credit academic Certificate in Data Science from CCM that is stackable toward a CCM associate degree and transfer pathways to four-year colleges and universities. Additionally, participants will earn approximately $48,880 in wages during the on-the-job training.
“It is an honor to partner with the AI Hub at Princeton University, a unique collaboration that is proving essential to transforming New Jersey’s workforce and economy,” said Dr. Anthony J. Iacono, president of County College of Morris. “As the future of work becomes increasingly tied to competencies in artificial intelligence, CCM is well positioned to lead efforts to meet the growing demand for data science and AI expertise.”
The New Jersey Community College Consortium for Workforce and Economic Development is serving as the program sponsor.
