CCM Invites Morris County Residents to Join the “One Book, One Community” Initiative
Communitywide Reading of Pulitzer Prize-winning Book “Founding Brothers: The Revolutionary Generation” Invites Local Discussions
What can the friendships, rivalries and complex decisions of America’s founders teach us about the nation today? CCM is inviting reading enthusiasts, book clubs and Morris County libraries to participate in its “One Book, One Community” initiative, centered on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book “Founding Brothers: The Revolutionary Generation” by Joseph J. Ellis.
Beginning November 1, 2026, the initiative encourages residents across Morris County to read the book and participate in discussions through local libraries, community reading groups and programming at CCM.
Community members are invited to a free discussion of select chapters hosted by CCM’s Legacy Project on Thursday, December 3, at 12:30 p.m. at the Learning Resource Center Café, with lunch provided. To RSVP and receive the chapters in advance, email legacy@ccm.edu.
“Reading history together creates opportunities to discover new perspectives, ask questions and engage in meaningful conversations,” said Heather Craven, Dean of the Learning Resource Center at CCM. “Through this year’s ‘One Book, One Community’ initiative, we are proud to bring together students, faculty and staff, along with the broader Morris County community, for discussions.”
The Library at CCM has developed free chapter summaries, suggested discussion questions and other resources to help individuals, book clubs and community reading groups explore the book together. To access these free materials, visit the One Book, One College guide. Residents are encouraged to check with local Morris County libraries for planned discussions and related programs. The communitywide initiative runs through April 1, 2027.
This initiative complements “Read Across Morris County 250,” a countywide reading program announced by Morris County in February 2026 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States.
