Professor C. M. Hoy earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree Magna Cum Laude from Montclair State University. He received a Master of Arts Degree, a Master of Philosophy Degree, and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree all from Columbia University. He is primarily a Professor of Economics but has taught more widely than only economics.
Dr. Hoy has been teaching at the County College of Morris for approximately 36 years. About the first 20 years were spent in the Business Department teaching a wide range of courses including but not limited to Economics. The last 16 years he has been in the Department of Sociology, Economics, and Anthropology.
Dr. Hoy has also taught for a number of years in the MBA program at The Florida Institute of Technology. He has also taught for a number of years in the Business and Economics Department of The New Jersey Institute of Technology. In addition, he has experience in teaching at a number of local institutions of higher education. He has taught at Drew University, Kean University, Centenary University, and East Stroudsburg University.
Anent the Economic courses, Dr. Hoy has taught courses in Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Money and Banking, Intermediate Price Theory, Managerial Economics, and Labor Economics. Dr. Hoy has also taught Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Managerial Finance, Financial Statement Analysis, An Introduction to Business, and Mathematics for Business. He has also taught several courses in Political Science.
While at Columbia University, Dr. Hoy wrote his PhD dissertation on F. A. Hayek, who was one of the greatest economists of the 20th century and who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics. After completing his doctorate, Professor Hoy wrote a book entitled A Philosophy of Individual Freedom which is published by Greenwood Press. Professor Hoy is also the co-author of a textbook on business mathematics.
Additionally, Professor Hoy has published approximately 60 articles that have appeared in a wide variety of publications, including the extremely prestigious business journal Barron’s. Many of the articles are on economic issues.
