CCM’s Internship Program combines academic studies with experiential learning opportunities, enabling students to apply theories and skills learned in the classroom to real world situations. Along with gaining experience in your field, you can fine-tune skills like time management, communication, working with others and problem-solving, all of which will ease your transition between school and work.

Not only will an internship give you a competitive edge in the job market, there are a host of other tangible benefits, as well:
* Evaluate your career choices
* Test-drive knowledge and skills
* Acquire new skills
* Develop and demonstrate career readiness
* Strengthen your resume
* Build confidence and learn more about yourself
* A ‘foot in the door’ at your internship company
* Develop a network and reference opportunities
* Gain a “real world” perspective on an occupation’s work environment
Two Ways to Intern
An internship can be:
(1) Credit-bearing
This option provides academic credit toward your CCM degree. Credit internships can be one, two or three credits, based on a student’s needs, major and desired work hours.
(2) Non-credit
With this option you will still benefit from the same work experience, but will not register for academic credit.
Credit-bearing Internships

A credit-bearing internship is an academic course that combines your academic studies with a work experience related to your major. The credits earned will be reflected on your transcript and the related work experience will make you more attractive to employers after graduation.
A credit internship can count toward your degree in a number of majors. Not sure if a credit-bearing internship can be incorporated into your curriculum? Visit your faculty advisor or academic chairperson.

- Be a full-time or part-time student at County College of Morris matriculated in a major offering internship credit (see the Credit Internship Applications list below). If you do not see your major listed, please check with Career Services or your faculty advisor. A credit internship option may still be available to you.
- Have a minimum 2.0 GPA (higher GPA requirement may be set by the academic department).
- Have completed coursework in your major.
- Your work experience must be concurrent with the semester in which you are registered for the internship credit courses.

- From the Credit Internship Applications list below, download the Application and the Employer/Job Description for your major. *If you do not see your major listed, please check with Career Services or your faculty advisor. A credit internship option may still be available to you.
- If you do not have an internship placement yet, hang on to the Employer/Job Description form for later use.
- Secure your Faculty Intern Advisor approval on the application. If you have a job you wish to use for your internship, you can also secure faculty approval of the job at this time using your Employer/Job Description form.
- Return your completed and signed forms to the Office of Career Services, Student Community Center, room 118. You will register for your internship section once you have secured placement and all application paperwork is complete.
Non-Credit Internships
If you find that a credit-bearing internship is not for you (such as you are in a major that does not offer internship credit or you have taken other courses in lieu of a credit internship), consider a non-credit internship. You still benefit from a related work experience, but do not register for academic credit.
Non-credit interns receive the same support from Career Services, who will help you make the most out of your experience.
No application form is required! Just contact the Career Services office to find out how to get started. Contact information is at the bottom of this page.
