ACCT Recognizes CCM President Anthony J. Iacono as “2026 Chief Executive Officer for the Northeast Region”
County College of Morris (CCM) is proud to announce that Dr. Anthony J. Iacono, president of the college, has been named the 2026 Chief Executive Officer for the Northeast Region by the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT).
ACCT’s Regional Awards recognize the extraordinary contributions of community colleges and their leaders in advancing student success and meeting the evolving needs of their communities. The award honors exceptional leadership among community college presidents throughout the Northeast and recognizes Dr. Iacono’s unwavering commitment to expanding pathways to higher education and career advancement.
“I am truly humbled and honored, considering the many exceptional presidents throughout the region, to be selected as ACCT’s CEO of the Northeastern region,” said Iacono. “My deepest gratitude to CCM’s Board of Trustees for their nomination, trust and continued support.”
“Dr. Iacono’s visionary leadership has elevated County College of Morris to new heights while ensuring students remain at the center of every decision,” said Paul R. Licitra, chair of CCM’s Board of Trustees. “His ability to expand academic opportunities and respond to the changing needs of our community, while building meaningful partnerships, has strengthened the college’s impact throughout Morris County and beyond. This recognition is a testament to his exceptional leadership and unwavering dedication to student success.”
Iacono has made it a priority to position CCM as a driving force in New Jersey, connecting students to experience both degree and certificate programs, while ensuring businesses and industries have access to the talent they need. From College Promise Programs that create pathways to college for local high school students, to innovative academic and workforce programs that prepare students for high-demand careers, he ensures CCM helps strengthen the region’s workforce and drive economic mobility for individuals and communities. CCM graduates are amongst the highest paid alumni from community college graduates in New Jersey.
Under his leadership, CCM continues to expand its partnerships and invest in innovative facilities with programs designed to meet the evolving needs of students and employers. New state-of-the-art facilities that are expanding CCM’s footprint include the soon-to-open 80,000 square-foot Center for Health Professions, Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Center and the Center for Entrepreneurship & Culinary Science, a collaboration with the Morris County Chamber of Commerce and home to the Culinary and Hospitality Arts Institute of New Jersey (CHAI-NJ). Additionally, the Morris County Career Training Center, a facility of the Morris County Vocational School District (MCVSD), opened on the campus last year, further expanding opportunities for high school students.
Innovative new programs are also helping to position the college as a leader in developing the future generation of professionals. The college will soon launch Dental Hygiene, Dental Assisting and Dental Radiography programs in its Center for Health Professions, supported by a historic grant of $1 million from the Delta Dental of New Jersey Foundation, Inc. CCM was also selected by the state as one of only two community colleges to partner with the AI Hub at Princeton University and the New Jersey Council of County Colleges for the state’s first U.S. Department of Labor Registered Data Scientist AI Apprenticeship grant. Among its newest initiatives is CCM’s Cyber Security Center and Ethical Hacking Lab, the first in New Jersey to be endorsed by the Department of Homeland Security, which is preparing students for careers in one of today’s fastest growing and most critical fields. This continued growth reflects CCM’s momentum as it expands its programs, strengthens industry partnerships and positions students to succeed in the careers and industries shaping the future.
During Iacono’s tenure, CCM has earned one of the highest graduation and transfer rates among New Jersey’s community colleges. Together with the expansion of facilities and unique offerings, these have differentiated CCM as a premier community college and a vital partner to local businesses, industries and communities, helping drive workforce development, economic mobility and long-term prosperity throughout Morris County.
Iacono further said, “It is a privilege to work with CCM’s exceptional Board of accomplished leaders who continuously demonstrate tremendous passion for our mission and the students we serve. I am, as always, also grateful to work alongside an exceptional faculty, staff and administration who pour their hearts into making our great college all that it is. This recognition is a reflection of all we do together to change lives and strengthen communities.”
Iacono also thanked ACCT for its important work in supporting community colleges across the country.
