Three New Members Also Welcomed to the Board
The County College of Morris Board of Trustees held its annual reorganization meeting on November 17 and welcomed three new members. The new members, appointed by the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders, are:
Alan J. Gordon of Parsippany
Trustee Gordon is the Business Coordinator of the Women’s Cancer Center in the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center at Morristown Memorial Hospital. He has served on the Parsippany Board of Education for 15 years, and holds an MBA from Rutgers.
Barbara Hadzima, Ed.D., of Morris Township
Trustee Hadzima is a retired elementary and middle school teacher and administrator. She was active in the development of a set of Holocaust/Genocide Curriculum guides, and earned her Ed.D. from Seton Hall University.
J. Richard Rajoppi of Brookside
Trustee Rajoppi is a human resources professional. He previously served as Vice President of Human Resources and Facilities at Seiko Corp. of America. He earned his MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Elected as officers were Trustee Elaine Johnson as chair, Trustee Jeffrey Advokat as vice chair, Trustee Joseph J. Longo as treasurer and Trustee Stanley T. Omland as secretary, each of whom are now serving a second term in their respective board position.
Trustee Elaine Johnson, of Kenvil, was appointed to the CCM Board of Trustees in April 1999 by the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders. Before becoming chair, she served two years as board secretary, three years as treasurer and two years as vice chair. Trustee Johnson also serves on the Diversity Committee, Northeast Region, of the Association of Community College Trustees. She is the Director of Programs and Services for Homeless Solutions, Inc. in Morris Township. Trustee Johnson also serves as Chair of the Morris County Comprehensive Emergency Assistance System (CEAS) and Chair of the Morris County Human Relations Commission.
Trustee Jeffrey Advokat, of Denville, was appointed to the board by former Governor James McGreevey in 2002 and reappointed by Governor Jon Corzine in 2008. He is the senior partner of Advokat & Rosenberg Esqs. in Morristown and a former Morris County assistant prosecutor. Trustee Advokat has served on the Executive Board of The Pingry School (PSPA) in Short Hills and has experience in the classroom, having taught business law at Caldwell College. Before becoming vice chair of the CCM Board of Trustees, he served three years as secretary and two years as treasurer.
Trustee Joseph J. Longo, P.E., of Morristown, was appointed to the board in January 2006 by the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders. Trustee Longo is a long-time resident of Morris County, a professional engineer in NJ and the retired president and CEO of Longo Industries in Wharton. He has been active in the community for many years and has served on numerous boards, including the Morris County Chamber of Commerce, the Morris County Construction Board of Appeals, and the Morris/Sussex/Warren Workforce Investment Board. Before becoming treasurer of the CCM Board of Trustees, he served two years as secretary.
Trustee Stanley T. Omland, PE, P.P., of Cedar Knolls, was appointed to the board in 2008 by the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders. He is President and Founder of Omland Engineering Associates and a leader in the land development and municipal engineering field. He has been involved with the New Jersey Builder’s Association and New Jersey Planning Officials, and assisted in the development of many related legislative acts. He has also served as a municipal engineer to communities in Morris, Sussex and Essex counties. He also serves on many community boards and committees.
