Students Produce Artwork Depicting the College’s Future
The CCM Art Design and Art Gallery at County College of Morris (CCM) will be featuring a special 50th Anniversary exhibition, titled “Into the Future,” featuring the work of several students depicting their vision of the college’s future.
Along with that look forward, the show also will include visual and audio documents from the CCM archives, consisting of historical records, photographs, announcements and videos.
The exhibition takes place September 11 through November 12. A reception, free and open to the public, will be held on Thursday, September 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the gallery, located in the Sherman H. Masten Learning Resource Center, 214 Center Grove Road, Randolph.
Six students were commissioned by the college to develop artwork specifically for the anniversary show. Those students used fashion and graphic design, painting, drawing, video and poetry to present their image of the future of CCM. The combination of archival material and futuristic renderings celebrates the tradition of the college and its people and envisions CCM as a college of the future.
The students whose artwork is featured in the “Into the Future” exhibit are Amy Albin, of Morris Plains; Juan Becerra-Gomez, of Dover; Christie Bogner, of Hackettstown; Charlie Neely, of Randolph; Edward Lee, of Randolph; and Heather Stevenson, of Oak Ridge.
The gallery’s hours are Monday and Wednesday, noon to 5 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday, noon to 8 p.m., Friday, noon to 4 p.m., and the first Saturday of the month, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
CCM is currently celebrating its opening in 1968 with events scheduled through May 2019. Since its founding, CCM has grown into one of the state’s most recognized community colleges. The college consistently has one of the highest combined graduation and transfer rates in the state. It is the only community college in New Jersey to be named a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security.
