The County College of Morris has been a local and national leader in Information Security education for over two decades.
In January 2017 we became designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Two-Year Education (CAE2Y). We were the first community college in New Jersey to receive this designation.
Our faculty is recognized nationally as expert educators, and has been leaders in setting the direction of our nation’s information security curriculum. The CCM Department of Information Technologies established the CCM Center for Cyber Security to further the mission of educating our future cyber security professionals, increasing awareness for students in other disciplines, and in preparing our greater community to be better cyber citizens.
Since 2003, County College of Morris has been a certifying institution for the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security in the National Initiative for Education.
The fifteen-credit CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT is awarded to students in recognition of satisfactory completion of the Information Security Certificate Program.

Cyber Security Curriculum
REQUIRED COURSES
CMP 120: Foundations of Information Security
This course provides a principled introduction to the field of information security. History, characteristics and models of information and computer security are explored. Topics such as risk management, logical and physical security, continuity, cryptography, and architecture are discussed. The National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education Knowledge Units and the CISSP CBK Domains are incorporated into the course content affording the student reinforcement and mastery of information security terminology and concepts.
CMP 124: Network Security
This course provides an in-depth study of network attack techniques and methods to defend against them. Areas of study include communication security, infrastructure security, cryptography, and operational and organizational security as it relates to network hardware, software and data. Topics include authentication, attacks, virtual private networks, email protection, web security, wireless, firewalls, intrusion detection, cryptography, disaster recovery and computer forensics regarding networked systems. Using a hands-on approach, powerful tools to diagnose and correct security breaches are investigated and manipulated. This course is mapped to the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education Knowledge Units and vendor-neutral certification exam.
CMP 125: Management of Information and Systems Security
This course entails identifying an organization’s information assets and the development, documentation and implementation of policies, standards, procedures and guidelines that ensure confidentiality, integrity and availability of those assets. This course, which is mapped to the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education Knowledge Units, prepares students to understand the planning, organization and roles of individuals involved in security, to develop security policies, and to utilize management tools to identify threats, classify assets and rate vulnerabilities. A detailed, real-world security plan is developed using customized strategies.

Share Time CSIP Program
CSIP stands for Cyber Security & Information Protection.
Morris County Vocational School District & County College of Morris has established a share time program with 11th and 12th grade students.
The students divide their day between CCM and their home district for the last two years of high school.
The students will earn the Information Security Certificate when they complete this program and more than 50% of our Information Technology AAS degree program.

IT Advisory Board
The IT Advisory Board consists of professionals in the Cyber Security and Information Technology field from various companies. The Advisory Board meets twice a year in the Fall and Spring semesters to discuss ways to strength the Cyber Defense program and to review the current course content. The board provides insight on current trends and reviews the curriculum for strengths and weaknesses. The board members are given updates on recent graduates and their current employment status.
