Allison Sherwood, assistant professor, earned her BSN from New Mexico State University in 2013. Professor Sherwood gained RN experience in Rehabilitation, Medical-Surgical and Neurological nursing. While practicing as an RN, she served as a mentor for new graduate nurses and served on the Nurse Practice Congress where she focused on implementing evidence-based practices within the hospital. These experiences fostered her passion for teaching.
Professor Sherwood continued her education and graduated with her MSN from Monmouth University in 2021. Following graduation, she became certified as an Adult-Gerontological Nurse Practitioner through the AANP and worked as a home-visit nurse practitioner in a start-up environment. She is currently completing her DNP with a focus on leadership and education.
